This week and last week Year 5 went on our first trip to the Natural History Museum in South Kensington. Here, we looked around the museum but also participated in a computing/ science workshop entitled “ Mission to Mars” . We learnt about how scientists are building and programming Mars Rover robots to take samples from the surface of Mars and communicate their findings to Earth. We built Lego rovers and then programmed them using iPads to make the robots move over the surface of Mars. We then added cameras, satellites and rock samplers and then tested them on a surface similar to Mars. The children were really engaged and represented Elmgrove really well during the workshops.
